Industrial Robots versus Service Robots

Like the Olympics where athletes from around the globe compete in various sports classes, Robotics is an area where scientists from all continents compete in the introduction of advanced technologies. The progress of intelligent machines and their adoption in several areas of action resulted in a clear classification of robots. In addition, this entire classification distinguishes between two general classes: industrial and service robots. Each of both of these general types of robots are broken into classes depending on the activity areas, performance and market requirements. Both, industrial robots and support robots, can be divided into two classes each. In industry static robots and robots are used, whilst support robots can be divided into private and expert service robots. Even though the first industrial robot and the first service robot had been created in different periods of time, support robots have had a far greater impact on the autonomous market completely, also have an important share of it.

The first robot, called Unimate, was built in 1961 and has been utilized by General Motors. This robot has been used in industry and is the daddy of their autonomous industry which is growing quickly nowadays. Industrial robots are highly specialized and are yearning for various regions of manufacturing products, from industrial robots used to construct cars to robots utilized to manipulate materials in warehouses. These are controlled machines, which can be deciphered, and exist in many different versions and layouts that may be categorized based on the amount of axes — three, four, five, four, six, or even more. Contrasts between industrial and service robots

There are major differences between an industrial robot and a support robot. An industrial robot is particularly intended to be used in products manufacturing and is less flexible in terms of number of jobs which can be made without reprogramming. A big advantage of an industrial robot when compared using a service robot would be the accuracy, which in this instance is in an extremely high level due to manufacturing demands, often in the area of either millimeters or even fractions of millimeters.

Artificial intelligence has yet to find its way to industrial robots; even the jobs that employ such technology are still in development phase and involve robots which can operate and share the same space with humans. Stability is another advantage of industrial machines, and is the result of computing capability limitation and establishment of precise tasks.

Service robots functions totally different from industrial robots. These robots are intended to serve certain requirements created by humans. Such robot could not satisfy the requirements if it wouldn’t be able to adapt to changes which occur in the surroundings, it wouldn’t be able to do the task if it wouldn’t have a real-time opinions of changes. I could make a valuation of the effort that’s submitted to designing these robots, it is far more difficult to look for a support robot, the complexity of such a robot is a lot greater than an industrial robot in terms of numerical modelling, intelligence processing and implemented power required. Flexibility is another class where an agency robot can do very nicely. It is able to correct and take decisions while socializing with things.

Service robots affect in human life

Our lifestyle has always been subject to revolutions throughout history. In the past decades we might experience the overall look of computers, the Internet or mobile devices, today it is the robots turn to set up their place into our presence. The revolution started long before the world wide web, however, burnt smoldering for decades because it made the initial actions in industrial areas. We can declare that industrial revolution has been the first phase in the autonomous revolution, the second phase is taking place as we speak, as support robots become more present in our lives. The new phase in the revolution has a slow transition whose end isn’t in sight. Contrary to the industrial revolution that impacted productivity on a wonderful scale, that time our lifestyles will likely be influenced or changed dramatically.
